Suzette Thompson
Proven Experience
Ms. Thompson has over thirty years of experience in regulatory and permitting activities at the Hanford site, including compliance with the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act. She has experience with radioactive waste retrieval and treatment, infrastructure projects, and site remediation activities. She has prepared sitewide regulatory required reports covering RCRA, Air, and Water (Hanford Site CERCLA 5-Year Review Report, and the annual Hanford Site Environmental Report covering RCRA, Air, and Water.
Ms. Thompson has experience in supporting programs and projects with analysis, coordination, tracking, monitoring, assessments, walk-downs, and reviews for compliance/consistency with regulatory policy and sitewide implementation strategy. She has worked effectively with government, regulatory agencies, and contractor personnel to solve complex problems and develop strategies for successful permitting, compliance, and effective negotiations. Suzette has successfully interfaced with senior-level management to define project goals and objectives, translating them to project scope, schedule, and responsibilities while incorporating key dates and decision points. She has a working-level knowledge of the DOE program and project management practices, policies, and procedures and the Tri-Party Agreement.
Ms. Thompson has a B.A. in Business & Economics from Washington State University and an A.A. in Engineering from Columbia Basin College.
Sustainable Results
As a RCRA Permit Writer for the Hanford Site Tank Farm, Ms. Thompson provided technical leadership managing and overseeing all aspects of the RCRA permitting. She developed RCRA permit documentation (Part A/Part B permit applications, modifications, comment packages for Ecology public comment periods, operating records, and compliance documentation). She provided company-level leadership for Department of Ecology interactions and negotiations for the Hanford Sitewide Permit, working both independently and within teams to provide solutions for complex environmental issues and to develop strategies for permitting and compliance.
As the Program Manager for the Hanford Site Seismic Program at Mission Support Alliance, she ensured compliance with DOE Orders for facility safety requirements and emergency preparedness/emergency communications related to natural phenomena hazards mitigation (earthquakes).
