ISMSolutions Hits Major Milestones – U.S. SBA 8(a) Program Certification and SeaPort-e Acceptance

U.S. SBA 8(a) Program Certification

U.S. Small Business AdministrationThe U.S. Small Business Administration has accepted ISMSolutions into its 8(a) Business Development Program, opening the door to sole-source contracts and joint venture opportunities. ISMSolutions, an 8(a), Economically Disadvantaged, Minority and Woman owned small business enterprise, provides quality management and technical consulting services for government and commercial clients in the nuclear, environmental, national security, energy, electrical utility and defense sectors. Obtaining certification in the Program gives ISMSolutions access to contracts set aside exclusively for performance by 8(a) firms, the potential award of sole source contracts awarded without the competitive process, and access to joint venture and mentoring opportunities not otherwise available to small businesses. “This is one milestone we really wanted to meet because it helps give us flexibility in meeting customer expectations either through direct contracting or through partnering opportunities we wouldn’t have access to before joining this program,” said ISMSolutions President Shirley Olinger. Under the 8(a) Business Development Program, ISMSolutions can receive sole-source contracts, up to a ceiling of $4 million for goods and services. ISMSolutions will also be able to form joint ventures or join teams to bid on contracts, enhancing the company’s ability to perform larger prime contracts and overcome the effects of contract bundling, the combining of two or more contracts together into one large contract.

Awarded SeaPort-e Small Business Prime Contract

seaportISMSolutions also achieved another major milestone recently when the U.S. Department of the Navy accepted ISMSolutions into its SeaPort-e standardized solicitation program with a four-year initial contract award. ISMSolutions is now accredited to provide contractual services in 22 functional areas within the Navy including engineering, financial management, and program management. ISMSolutions is eligible to compete for contract awards among the Navy Syste ms Commands, the Office of Naval Research, Military Sealift Command, and the United States Marine Corps. “Since 85 percent of SeaPort-e’s contract–holders are small businesses, ISMSolutions is a perfect fit within the Navy’s cadre of preferred suppliers,” Olinger said. “I’m particularly pleased with the opportunities this provides for us to become involved with the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard in Hawaii where I gained much of my early-career nuclear experience.” Olinger started her nuclear career at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard in both the Nuclear Engineering Department and the Radiological Controls Division. As a nuclear manager at Pearl Harbor, she was responsible for providing engineering and technical support for the overhaul, refueling, defueling, and testing of naval nuclear propulsion plants.
